District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey has made the safety of students, teachers and school buildings a priority in Norfolk County.
          School Security Roundtables
Through these confidential forums, the District Attorney brings together school administrators, police officers, prosecutors, and representatives from the Departments of Probation, Youth Services and Children and Families to share information about court-involved and at-risk youth. These professionals work together to maintain school safety by developing early intervention strategies, connecting students to appropriate services, monitoring student progress and ensuring compliance with court directives.
          Norfolk School Partnership
Monthly meetings are hosted by the District Attorney’s Office to bring together school nurses, guidance counselors, school crisis counselors and wellness instructors to share information and resources on many of the driving forces behind criminal activity: alcohol and substance abuse, mental health issues and unhealthy relationships.
          School Security Grants
District Attorney Morrissey recognized that budget constraints had prevented many schools from installing security equipment to keep their students and staff safe.  He developed this program so that money seized from successful drug prosecutions could be used to match funding from schools for the installation of qualifying projects such as security cameras, door locks and intercom systems.
